Head Coach: Jason Smith
The 2026-27 season will be Jason's 34th year coaching at Fountain Valley and his 28th year as Head Coach. In 2022-23 and 2024-25, he coached the Varsity Barons to the first round of CIF playoffs and In 1999-2000 and 2019-20 he coached the Varsity Barons to the Sunset League Championship, with the Barons going all the way to the CIF Division 1 Semi-Finals in 1999-2000 Additionally, he coached the Barons to the third round CIF Quarter Finals in 2018-19, the CIF Semi-Finals in 2004-05 and to a Sunset League Title in 2008.
Jason graduated from Edison High School with 2 Sunset League selections. He was a member of the OCC Men’s Soccer team which won the State Junior College Championship and played Division 1 Soccer at UCI. Jason was also an Assistant Coach at Orange Coast College. Jason is entering his 17th year as Co-Department Coordinator at FVHS in the Special Education Department.
Varsity Asst Coach: Jon Lloyd
The 2026-27 season will be Jon’s 17th year coaching for FVHS. Jon was a three-year letterman, 1997 – 1999, for the Barons. Jon pursued his education at Orange Coast College and Long Beach State. He taught in the English Department at FVHS from 2007 to 2024 and currently teaches at Valley Vista High School.
JV Coach: Steven Garcia
The 2026-27 season will be Coach Stevens first year as the JV head coach. He played ECNL with the slammers growing up and played 4 years on Varsity at Edison HS, where he won 3 sunset league titles and served as captain in 2022 his SR year. He then played 2 years of college soccer at OCC. He currently coaches with the HB Pateadores and served 1 year as the assistant coach with FVHS girls varsity soccer and continues as an assistant coach on the men's side at OCC.
JV Asst Coach: David Volkert
The 2026-27 season will be David's first season coaching at FVHS. He graduated from FVHS in 2016 and played soccer all 4 years. He studied Kinesiology at Cal State Long Beach and received a teaching credential from Concordia University Irvine. He currently teaches a Masuda Middle school.
Frosh/Soph Coach: Duc Tran
The 2026-27 season will be Duc's seventh year as Frosh/Soph Coach at Fountain Valley High School. He currently coaches a local club team and AYSO Region 5 teams. Duc graduated from Cal Poly Pomona.
Goalkeeper Coach: Mitchell Wilson
The 2026-27 season will be Mitchell's third season at Fountain Valley High School. He graduated from Edison High School in 2018, where he won two Sunset League titles. He then played Division 1 soccer at Loyola Marymount from 2018-2022, appearing in the 2021 NCAA tournament, and finished his playing career at UC San Diego in 2023. Mitchell also served as an assistant coach at OCC for the Men and Women's programs and as the goalkeeper coach at Pats HB.
